Breast Care Center

Many of us are touched by breast cancer in this community. The statistics make that abundantly clear.

The United States has the highest rate of breast cancer in the world; more notably, the Northern California Bay Area has the highest rate of breast cancer in the United States. In 2005, more than 400 women in Sonoma County alone are expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer.

It's no doubt that these are grim realities. But thanks to a generous grant from The San Francisco Bay Area Affiliate of The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and a $100,000 gift from Rosemount Estate Wineries, women facing breast cancer in Sonoma County have a new place to turn. These gifts, along with the generous support of many community members, has enabled our not-for-profit medical center to develop a comprehensive Breast Care Center located at the Women's Health Resource Center, 625 Steele Lane, Santa Rosa.

The center features a Nurse Navigator, who serves as an invaluable resource/advocate for breast cancer patients and their families. She can direct them to information regarding diagnosis, treatment, and recovery while providing crucial emotional support along the way.

In addition to the Nurse Navigator, the center proudly offers integrative health and healing services that will provide free massage, guided imagery, acupuncture, and stress management to low-income women with breast cancer. These services are available on the 1st and 3rd Saturday mornings of each month. For more information or to schedule services, please call(707)576-4760.
